Production and post production
Final music video
MY FILMING PRODUCTION TIMELINE:
Filming Schedule:
I followed this schedule in order to maintain organisation and focus but i was also flexible with the filming locations according to what i found in the natural environment. For example, the camel scene was not planned for but i decided to include it once i saw the camels in their natural environment as i believed it would add to the authenticity of my product and be fitting in my music video.

Day one of filming: opening skit
Above are some screenshots of the opening skit, displaying the multiple camera angles used to create a dynamic and interesting viewing for my target audience.
The scene opened with a close up shot inside a closet where my actor's face is revealed as he separates the clothing and selects the shirt that he will be wearing in the next scene. This aspect plays into the continuity and flow of the clip.
The next scene is filmed from a side angle where the actor is seen walking into a living room. This scene required set-up before hand that enabled the setting to appear as realistic as a living room, accentuating the mise en scène of my video. I placed props such as books, pillows and cups to appear in the frame to add to the realism. The mise en scène of this scene was also highlighted with the use of particular shirt colours to represent certain emotions with blue and black used to connote negative feelings that compliment the actors facial expression as shown above.
As the actor picks up the remote, i cut to this shot from a different point of view from behind the actor with a conventional over the shoulder shot as he switches the TV on.
I then included a clip that i downloaded from the internet of a conventional reality tv scene that signifies the stereotypical standard of current television entertainment.
I then filmed the actor with a close up shot to represent his current emotion to the audience by using his facial expression to signify boredom before switching off the program. I included a TV turn off effect that required me to watch the above tutorial on youtube that explains how to create this effect on Adobe Premier Pro (the video editing software that i am using).
I then cut the scene back to the point of view from behind the actor with a conventional over the shoulder shot as he is holding the remote. I then repeated this process for the next scene involving a different coloured shirt and a different downloaded program to represent a new day.
For this scene, my communication skills were highlighted as i had to request from my teachers and peers that this space be available during my scheduled timings without any interruptions and disturbances.

Day 2 of filming: vocal performance
Above are some screenshots of the multiple camera shots and angles used whilst filming the performance element of my music video. Conventionally, performance in pop and EDM music videos involve switching between different camera angles and shots in order to make the scene less repetitive and more interesting.
Conforming to these common codes and conventions, i filmed my actor singing the verses and chorus from different perspectives by using long shots, close ups and extreme close ups.
I paid attention to lighting as the the natural environment for filming meant that the sun was my light source.

If your subject is in the middle of the image, it's considered static. Your eye is drawn to it then has nowhere to go from there because the object is equal distance from all sides. Therefore when your subject is positioned closer to one of the edges, it forces your eye to follow it…to find it. This allows the viewer to linger on your image longer. It makes for a more captivating photo because it's almost interactive. Like a conversation going on between the photo and you. Counterpoint refers to placing the image's primary focal point at the thirds position.

Day 3 filming: sifah beach and pool
My filming on this day was efficient and successful as i had previously planned the timings according to when they would be most suitable. For example, I scheduled the yoga scenes to be filmed at sunset time in order to achieve a particular aesthetically fitting background. I made sure to succeed with these shots i i plan to use these images on my digipack aswell, in order to accentuate my brand and carry a common theme throughout all of my products.
The link on the right shows one clip from my music video involving changing my levels to make it more interesting.
This is conventionally done using a gimbal although considering the location of this scene limiting the accessibility of certain equipment, i improvised using a chair to change my levels, resulting in a successful outcome. |

Day 4 of filming: bandar khayran boat trip
My filming on day 4 was successful and productive, i used the go pro camera as well as my IPhone 8 to obtain shots such as those above as these cameras were easy to carry whilst on a boat and while swimming. I obtained the under water clips with the GoPro camera and selected the above shots from a range of footage.
I expanded my filming skills in areas such as maintaining a steady hand whilst filming on a boat and on the back of a kayak.

Day 5 of filming: wadis and stumbled upon sceneries
Filming on day 5 was also successful and productive, especially because i stumbled upon multiple filming opportunities on the way to the wadis for example the shot of the camels.
I carried out a risk assessment of the cliff jumping risks and found that the possible hazards could be avoided with proper care and measurement of where the actors will jump from.
The GoPro was used to film a close up birds eye view shot of the cliff jump but also used to film the cliff jump from below.
I obtained multiple panoramic shots whilst in a car as the moving allowed for a more dynamic and exciting shot whilst also allowing for a smooth pan across sceneries.
I used one of these panoramic shots for the opening scene of my music video as i believe it conforms to the codes and conventions of many travel themed music videos and conventional filming of sceneries such as mountains. The shot linked below was filmed whilst i was in a car and deliberately positioned to appear as though the shot was filmed from a helicopter.

pOST PRODUCTION: EDITING ON ADOBE PREMIERE PRO
My video editing skills have improved massively throughout this project by learning the appropriate techniques for the most effective video editing.
I began this process by watching multiple tutorials including:

Below are some of the editing skills that i developed whilst editing my music video including:
- correcting a cap between clips after syncing performance with audio by slowing down a clip in between
- layering videos such as my time lapse of a sunset and the yoga poses
- using the warp stabilizer video transition which is very useful for removing unwanted camera movement from footage
- creating a split screen in order to showcase multiple clips at once

I created a sunset timelapse that would be seen multiple times throughout my music video as an overlay to create an interesting effect.
For this task i had to contact the owner of a house where would be the most suitable location for this time lapse due to the scenery but also as i needed to leave the camera unattended to for several hours.

The sunset time lapse was filmed and created successfully as shown in the link below:

This was the first draft of my music video where i recieved feedback from my teacher that the syncing of the performance and audio were not in time at some parts.
I corrected this by altering the speed of certain clips and editing in footage of sceneries in areas that i could not correct.
Below is a screenshot of my finished editing timeline:
